You left out Shadowskin, Foresight/Convalescence cross class, DA Abyssal Drain/Souleater HP regen, and Sole Survivor/Mercy Stroke self heals
But yeah, lots of retarded statements are made in regards to DRK. The same could be said of any class. Welcome to

When it comes to being squishy, it's law of averages from my side (healer). Some of the best tanks i've had have been drks in Pharos HM to be exact. But by and large, if I don't want to be caught letting the tank die I Buy FFXIV Gil need to play to what I generally see, which is a less then rock like defense.

Imo, bad tanks keep this idea alive. Its not as easy as saying "minus the bad tanks" either.
From what I have experienced healing.
Each tank has kinda a "#" bad. To explain what I mean.
Paladins bad tanks tend to stay in Shield Oath, and act like their only roll is to tank. Damage is something dps should do.

War and Drk bad tanks tend to have the opposite mindset. They tend to think they are hot love you for being able to bring good dps and neglect tanking duties to pump up dps.
The issue is that, a PLD bad tank, despite not using a damn CD, at least is in Shield Oath and has a Shield to mitigate some damage.

War and Drk bad tanks, they sit w/o Grit or in Deliverance. Don't use a damn CD and expect the healer to keep them alive.

Add on to this, some healers don't understand how the Tank jobs work. They just naively see that some tanks can take less damage and some take more damage. When one of these naive healers runs across enough bad DRK or WAR that they start equating being squishy with the job.

Meanwhile a good tank is just taken for granted. They don't really stop to see that "hey that DRK, wasn't a pos like the last 3 DRK's have been, it must be the player not the job" instead they may just equate it to gear.

So keep up the good tanking. Show them your not one of those, not using grit, pull the whole dungeon, Dark Knights. Its the best way to stop the idea that DRK is squishy.

As a healer, I can say that DRK tends to be the most squishy class. This is mostly due to a lot of people picking it up as their first tank at level 30, and being unskilled.
Can DRK be good? Yes, it can. There are some DRKs that I barely have to heal, and let me cleric to my hearts content.

The reason I can say that the DRK "class" is squishy is because, on average, more players are bad with it (from my experience) and it influences the class. It gives the class a bad name. It doesn't matter if DRK by itself is good, it matters that people suck using it.

    DRK has DRG syndrome.

Rampart, Bulwark, and Sentinel would like FFXIV Gil sale to say something to you.
Paladins are the tankiest of tanks. They have the most defensive cooldowns, both naturally (Gladiator), and job-wise (Job Crystal), with a total of 13 (counting cross-class, Shield Oath and Protect, but not Tempered Will), whereas Dark Knight only gets 8 (counting cross-class and Grit).

Paladins have unmatched mitigation, a health pool nearly equal, or moderately less, than their two-handing counterpart, access to Block, a costly healing spell, two skills that can replenish their MP (one of which is part of a combo intended for placing a damage debuff on the target or a DPS finisher), a combo that lowers the target's strength that doesn't need a proc, and a pacification debuff (that does need a proc, but is mostly useless in raids outside of damage output). In my opinion, they are the supreme MTs. But not the ones with the most utility.
