    1. Get any serial number of any Seagate product and process a Customer Return for it. (I SE-d my own 2-year old 2TB drive). The drive has to be under warranty which is 3 to 5 years from date of purchase.

    2. Process an RMA and print shipping prepaid label Seagate will provide you:

    3. Send in your "imaginary" drive and make the package appear as if someone sloppy ripped the bottom of the box and sealed it with some packaging tape. I sent mine using bubble wrap and placed a small tear and stepped on the Seagate box to make it look even more fcked up. :p

    4. Seagate will receive your "broken HDD" and send you a brand new replacement in less than a week.

    I don't believe there was an investigation that took place as I did not receive any correspondence from them regarding my "imaginary" return. I just monitored its status by logging on to their website.

    I did this process myself but I got the idea from the many helpful members here SE-ing other companies! Hope this works for you!
