    When buying a account linked to gmail how can you prevent them from recovering once sold?

    change the password, Email, address, recovery questions and phone number and I think you should be right!

    @Middleman has step by step directions what needs to be done. It's a long process and requires at least 20-60 minutes of work to fully secure a gmail. Without this, there is no way guarantee you can prevent it from being recalled.
