How to SE HP for a free monitor (or other product): What you need prepared: - A $1 VCC - A Product Serial Number - A Product Model Number - Patience to wait for a phone call answer How to execute: So I first got my product number and serial number from a friends "HP Pavilion Monitor 27XW" but you could also use the ebay/playerup.com method. Then, I bought a $1 VCC from any number of sites. Next you have to go check if the warranty is still available (ʜᴛᴛᴘs://sᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ.ʜᴘ.ᴄᴏᴍ/ᴜs-ᴇɴ/ᴄʜᴇᴄᴋᴡᴀʀʀᴀɴᴛʏ). If it isn't I don't think it will work. After that I called +1 800-474-6836 (if you are in the US). Then, I had to wait a while for someone to answer my call. After that just tell them how your got this monitor your birthday a week or so ago and it is not turning on. They will troubleshoot with you a little but just keep saying it isn't working. They will then ask for the SN and MN, which me have prepared, and then after that is successful you will be transferred to a person in charge. They will confirm your SN and MN and make sure you are getting the correct product. After that the representative will ask for your billing and shipping address. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR REAL BILLING ADDRESS BUT GIVE THEM YOUR REAL SHIPPING ADDRESS. This is very important. If you give a real billing address they could send a bill (obviously) to you and you don't want that. And if you give a fake shipping address you won't receive your item. Once this is done you will be asked for $1 to be charged to a credit card. This is where the VCC comes in handy. If you give them your real CC number they will charge you later. Next they will tell you they are sending a new monitor with a box to send back your "old" monitor. After that you will get a confirmation for your order. Wait a week or so.
