☆ Background check the other party

Check the account creation date, posts, and karma Be wary of accounts created in less than a week, negative or low karma, and check out the rest of their profile such as any posts and/or comments for further information. Gut feeling they’re suspicious? Probably are. Trust your gut, especially in a situation like this.

[ Also, check our guide on how to background check here ]

☆ Think : Is it too good to be true?

Is your favorite character and their BIS on the account?
    Is it maintained?
Are there many other five star characters?
    all that you want?
Don’t get blinded by this, keep note how the other trader is acting and talking. Try not to let this cloud your judgement.

Is the account too good to be true? It most likely is a scam
Is the price too cheap? It most likely is a scam

Is the other party offering way too much than you were told it's worth? Barely negotiating? It most likely is a scam

Don’t get blinded thinking you’ll be getting such a great account for a lower end one or for a very low price or you'll sell your account for such a huge win. You’re not!

☆ Ask for proof that they own the account

Such as recording a video showing everything relevant as well as doing something you ask for such as using a specific character's charged attacks a few times or pretty much anything of your choice.

Alternatively, ask them for screenshots showing the paimon menu with their reddit / discord username in the signature as well as screenshots showing everything else relevant

[ *everything relevant refers to five star character selection list [ c / character menu > circular button with four squares inside ], five star constellations [ C1 & above ], five star weapons & refinements as well as anything that you need to see. ]

    ☆ Co-Op [ do this when you're HIGHLY suspicious, like 10/10 suspicions ]

When buying an account, ask to meet in co-op and show some of the characters and to put some of the builds on their profile or on enka network, make sure the UID on their profile in game matches with the enka network profile. Do this even if you’re not buying an account, but highly suspicious.

    ☆ Dodging Questions

Scammers will often dodge questions or provide flimsy excuses, and/or turn the tables so they’re now accusing you. Leave the trade there and report them.

    ☆ Middleman/Middlewoman

“I don’t trust middlemen, I got scammed before by one” Good chance it’s a scammer. There’s a chance of getting scammed trading or selling [an] account/s no matter what you do, but an even BIGGER chance if you do not use a trusted middleman.

If you suggest a middleman and the other party ghosts or ignores you, they're a scammer, cancel and report them as soon as possible.

“Going at the same time” [when there’s not a middleman] is hard to do and not the best method - someone always goes first and there is a good chance of being scammed if you’re that someone.

ALWAYS use a trusted middleman, somewhere from platforms like playerup or Discord

If from Discord, do not let the other trader blindly choose the middleman, ask to get a trusted one from a relatively big server and even ask for vouch proof.

☆ Other party recommends a middleman of their choice.

Look up the servers invite on KSF, if the server isn't reported, look for suspicious signs like middlemen vouching for each other frequently or big amount of members yet server is inactive or all chat channels are locked

☆ DON'T trust the other party's "personal middleman" or a friend of theirs that's a middleman

It's best to use a middleman from a mutual server, if you don't know any servers with trusted middlemen, ask someone you know is trusted for recommendations.

    ☆ Methods of payment

DON'T use anything for payment you're unfamiliar with unless someone you know well is assisting you with it. DON'T use PayPal business, the other party can file a chargeback.

☆ DON'T let someone log in and buy you welkin, genesis crystals or battlepass UNLESS they're 100% trusted.

They can file or request a chargeback / refund after buying it, leaving you with negative primogems. Alternatively, use codashop, razer or the official hoyoverse website for top up.

☆ Be cautious when the other party is surrendering a google account to you or you're surrendering a google account to them.

If you're signed into the account on your device while they're also on it, if the other party is a scammer they can factory reset your phone with the "find my device" method. [If the device is an android]

☆ Make sure the code being sent to you is in a language you can understand and make sure you know what the code is for and who it's from

Scammers may ask to log in and check the account [ highly not recommended to accept that!!! alternatively, you can meet up in coop. ] they'll make you think they're logging into the game, when they're actually logging into hoyolab, which doesn't require a code for new device verification / simply logging in, and changing the email.

Scammers may send you an email with a fake hoyoverse account to trick you into giving the wrong code [like if they say they're logging into your account, and they send a fake email for new device verification and at the same time they send a code for changing the email and trick you into telling them the code for changing the email ], the real hoyoverse email is [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

☆ Screenshot EVERYTHING you can lose in your account, the user center and the shop before letting a pilot log into your account.

Screenshot your inventory, items that can be deleted like weapons, artifacts, enemy/boss drops or materials, etc.. in case the pilot is a scammer and deleted one of the mentioned items

Screenshot the user center in case the pilot is a scammer and linked a 3rd party link of theirs on your account.

Screenshot the shop in case the pilot is a scammer and bought anything without your consent .

☆ Trusted & real middlemen NEVER ask for the payment you'll give to the other party

This DOESN'T refer to the middleman fee or asking about the payment to make sure the other party receives the full amount promised Middlemen will never ask for payment due to taxes, conversion fees, manyotherstupid fees or if the payment can be transferred only once [ giftcard, currencies that are taxed when transferred like robux, etc.. ]

☆ DON'T trust random links the other party sends you

The link could be "disguised" [ in messages on discord & submissions on reddit like the following [www.totallynotfakelinknovirusfr.com\](www.fakelinkwithvirusohnooo.com) the link will appear blue if the URL is written correctly ] The link could be a phishing link that when clicked usually set off a download that contains malicious files capable of harvesting information stored on your device, such as account log ins, credit/debit cards, etc..

☆ DON'T trust account/s with deadlink/s unless the other party can provide genuine proof the link is dead.

If the other party is lying about the deadlink being active, the person who has access to the linked 3rd party account can log in and trash your account. If the deadlink is PSN, go to the psn profiles website and type the spamsite you see in hoyolab under the PSN link, check if the account is genuinely inactive or not.
