Great price. My history shows I bought one in November 2012 for $43.49, but I don't have it. It must have been somebody's Christmas present that year. Might pick one up for myself now.

The amount of extras in this set is sick and I don't see how one person can watch them all (though, realistically, there is probably a ton of repeated material)

Lowest price ever on amazon according to camelcamelcamel.

Heads up if you want to get a Digital UV copy of this if you buy this specific set your going to have to go and ask Flixster YMMV on that, when I did they just asked for a picture and added it. I enjoy having it there since I don't have to swap discs when I am watching it.

When it dropping down $20 or less ?

Um, probably never. Today's price is a great price for three great movies! 15 Blu-ray discs!

I bought this set a few holidays ago at around the same price (I think it was ~$45 and then I used a $15 credit I had to even further reduce it). Regardless, at this price, I would recommend anyone to buy it. Great set and definitely the definitive LoTR trilogy experience.

For what it is worth, if you don't care about the extras or the extended versions you can get all 3 films in one nice little package at Target for $14.99. Obviously you get a lot more with all the extras here but if you don't care THAT much about all that stuff that is a lower cost alternative to just own the movies. They are all disc to digital eligible on Vudu too so for $6 you can add UV copies to the mix.

Each of the three movies are split onto two blu ray discs. So that right there is 6 discs. Then each movie has 3 blu ray discs for special features and other side content.

This set has 15 discs, not 15 BR discs.

I went ahead and ordered this one. I generally prefer the theatrical releases of these movies. But at this price it's worth getting copies of the extended edition.

Supposedly these movies look fantastic except for the first movie having some sort of green tint to it.

if i have this on dvd is it worth it. blu ray is nice but let's be realistic. yes or no

Does this set even exist on DVD?

And that's really a personal call. I wouldn't want these in DVD if I could help it. The extras are nice if you care about that sort of thing.

Thanks for the heads up, OP!

Already have the set, but for those who don't....just buy it. You won't regret it.

Pretty sure this is the cheapest i have seen the EE-Extended Edition trilogy on blu ray. To bad I bought the LOTR on blu ray 2 years before they released the EE ones. I figured this day would soon come where i would regret not waiting patiently for the EE ones instead.

good price think I payed 39.99 at best buy a year or 2 ago.

you got the Extended edition for that or the regular edition Lotr when it first came out?

man I'm bummed I missed out on this. I own all 3 Extended on DVD but this was a great price.
