SCAMMED out of $600 from a criminal buyer - Discord Scam

    I had a ROBLOX account worth over $600 that I was attempting to sell. Confident in PlayerUp's 'trustworthy' middleman service, a buyer approached me via Skype and attempted to buy the account. He told me that the middlemen services were 'down', and that he knew a middleman that would do it for us. I knew it was fishy, but when he referred me to the middleman and I saw that she was verified on the website, i felt comfortable with the transaction. There was a group chat where she attempted to mitigate the process. Because of PlayerUp's 'trustworthy' middlemen, I have had one of my most valued possessions stolen from me. I am attaching all chat logs with each individual: the fake buyer, and the scammer middleman. I will be notifying the authorities tomorrow and will see if there are any actions that should be made, specifically in relation to the criminal buyer and the PlayerUp company themselves. I can only hope that something can be salvaged from this mess.



    Additionally, I recieved a message directly from the silver verified Shui Shan via PlayerUp, and I will attach it once I find it. This has been one of the most unprofessional, wildly inappropriate comoanies I have ever dealt with.

    So I have seen this tactic used several times now where people will claim our services are down or not working but you can easily just go to the website here and see that everything is running properly. Just click a buy now link, any buy now link and you'll see everything is functioning just fine. Middleman services has never been down or offline so the person who said this you know right away he was trying to trick and bait you into his scam.


    If it was fishy, why not contact middleman support here before you did any major transaction here?


    Did you actually talk to the person that was verified on the website? Do you have a conversation on playerup.com with this person or did they send you a link to their profile claiming they are this person? Please forward more screenshots.

    Essentially what you did here was you decided to take the transaction offsite and agreed to do a deal with someone who looks like was pretending to be us and while I can't verify this I'm guessing @Shui Shan also wasn't involved with this either. I'm guessing the guy faked everything pretending to have a playerup middleman agent on discord and @Shui Shan was involved here, correct?


    I am not sure what PlayerUp Middleman Services has to do with this being their fault here. This transaction was done on discord, correct? I see no order that you have on playerup.com here, correct?

    On every single thread on playerup, we have an icon labeled Seller Protection. We put this big blue icon here so sellers read it. When you click on the icon, it goes to this link: Middleman: Sellers Guide | PlayerUp Accounts Marketplace. Player 2 Player Secure Platform. If you had read that guide it clearly says:

    When should I release my account information to the buyer?
    Never release your account information unless (@Middleman) contacts you through the PlayerUp Conversation Ticket System. We will never contact you through e-mail, kik, skype, or any 3rd party service. All middleman transactions are done through PlayerUp.com for security reasons.

    Do you use Skype, PlayerUp or another messenger service?
    No. All middleman transactions are done through PlayerUp.com for security reasons. Anyone who attempts to contact you through a 3rd party messenger claiming they are us is fraudulent.

    Why didn't you read this before transacting a $600 account over discord?

    If Shui Shan messaged you, then you should be able to see it here: https://www.playerup.com/conversations/. Please screenshot this conversation you had with him on playerup.com. If you send a discord conversation, then that wouldn't be sufficient evidence to verify that Shui Shan was involved in this. All I see as of now is someone pretended to be Shui Shan but I can't 100% verify that so I need clarification from you and I need Shui Shan to respond.

    In the meantime while we wait for the OP and Shui Shan reply, I need to clarify again so you fully understand here that you did this transaction outside of playerup middleman services. We took no part in this transaction and you opted to trust this guy over discord every single word he said and he scammed you.

    Meanwhile, I would contact Roblox Support and begin recovering your account. Here is the link: Support - Roblox

    DO NOT inform you were selling this account but tell them you tried to login and it's not working. Keep it as short as that and wait for Roblox Support to respond back.

    We'll help you out here as best as we can but again we ourselves were not involved in this you should recognize that and see what I said above make sure to read the guides in the future so these conflicts don't happen as you're blaming PlayerUp when none of this is actually our fault.

    Hey Hulk, I appreciate you hearing me out. I was able to find the message from Shui off PlayerUp. The reason I decided to take the transaction was offline was BECAUSE of the message, and her status as a verified silver middleman. I had no way of knowing the middleman services were on/off without making a transaction myself. I am attaching the message from Shui. The only proof I have is in the form of an e-mail, as she deleted the conversation right after sending it - hence why I was unable to find it. I will send both the e-mail and the screen of my conversations that shows it is empty.

    It is also worth noting that clicking on Shui Shan's icon directs me to the verified seller page, and not just a dummy account.

    EDIT: Because I'm sure a photo won't suffice, I took a video and uploaded it to YouTube so you can see for yourself.

    Once again thanks for hearing me out and for cooperating with me, I appreciate it immensely.

    "as you're blaming PlayerUp when none of this is actually our fault." As far as I'm concerned, your middleman service is a part of your company that you pride yourselves on due to it's trustworthiness. I trusted your company and your company's middlemen to complete the transaction. It is not my fault that I believed somebody that is trusted and verified by PlayerUp, it is YOUR fault for verifying and allowing such a scammer to run amok and scam individuals for their accounts and possessions that are valuable to them. If you read my Skype conversation with 'Isiah', you also would've seen that I linked a post that also claimed her to be a scammer.     I messaged you on PlayerUp about buying your Roblox account, yes I can confirm that's me. But if you've got any brain, why did you not check with me on PlayerUP if your 'Middleman' is the same person as me, before proceeding with the transaction?

    Since you can see both of our Names are "Shui", why did you still continue with the deal when the Skype ID of your "Middleman" is 'johnson02isfresh'?

    Your 'Proof that Shui Shan contacted me on PlayerUp' shows I messaged you on PlayerUp asking to buy your Roblox account, it doesn't show that I had been the middleman for your deal. Therefore, it doesn't prove that I scammed you. But even so, why did you not reply to the message, when you clearly know it's from me?

    I ask you again, why did you not check with me on PlayerUP before sending the account info? Now you're here claiming it's my fault. Honestly, I'm speechless.

    And thirdly, you and Exadest are the only one saying I scammed, so obviously you're the same person, why did you not reply to any of my messages on PlayerUp?

    Because you messaged me over PlayerUp at the SAME TIME that we were communicating over Skype. The time stamps are available and everyone can see how strangely coincidental it is. Sure, I could’ve reached out to you over PlayerUp, but you were speaking to me over Skype! Now, there is no way of finding out whether you were or were not behind that Skype handle, but the evidence is very strongly against your favor.

    It goes without saying that I, as a first time user of PlayerUp, made mistakes in verifying your info. These same mistakes were those that you manipulated and used against me.

    You say that you are not a middleman, yet you have done several middleman transactions in the past. Let me ask you this: if you have scammed people before, are you not a scammer?

    Yes, you are correct. But is it a coincidence that right after you ask to buy my ROBLOX account, you’re suddenly the middleman of my transaction?

    Lastly, you accusing me of being ‘Exadest’ on the other post is not logical. That post was from Exadest’s ‘friend’, claiming that you scammed him out of his account. Am I Exadest? No, my ROBLOX account (was) ratrear12, an entirely different handle. Is there any way to prove I am Exadest, or his friend? No. The OP’s post was garbled, with no evidence and false claims. But I believe that I am the first of many victims that you have scammed to speak up, and I will not stop until justice is served.

    Knowing that I was online at the SAME TIME as the impersonator, didn't you see the opportunity of asking if I was your 'Middleman', or something like 'Are you the one talking to me on Skype?" - especially when you know I'd reply 'instantly' because I was online at the SAME TIME as the impersonator? Anyway, I have no idea when the impersonator was talking to you over Skype, so yes, it was a coincidence.

    I didn't manipulate you. You got scammed because you were stupid enough to believe the impersonator - who simply had the same profile photo as my PlayerUp profile and the name 'Shui' - you didn't bother to take account of the impersonator's Skype ID, or the fact that they use no grammar when talking on Skype.

    Now, there is no way of finding out whether you were or were not behind that Skype handle,

Completing a middleman transaction means successfully used the Middleman service on PlayerUp when buying or selling accounts.     Keep in mind that I asked to buy your account through Middleman. Why did I say that I want to use Middleman when buying your account? It's because I know you wouldn't trust me despite my silver ranking or feedback. So why would I be your 'Middleman' when I said I'm willing to use the Middleman service on PlayerUp?

    I'm sorry for accusing you. If you're not Exadest then my apologies. I thought you guys are trying to frame me as a scammer - though if you are, please know that this is a terrible attempt.

    I understand your frustration of losing your account, but you have to come to your senses that the 'Middleman Shui', who's Skype ID is apparently 'johnson02isfresh', is a different person to the 'Shui Shan' on PlayerUp. So, I would really appreciate if can stop taking your anger out on me.

    To conclude, you have no real evidence that I was the user who scammed you except how we both talked to you at the same - which, in fact, is a coincidence.

    When I said ‘SAME TIME’, I didn’t mean instantaneously. I meant sending the message through PlayerUp, and then continuing to contact me through Skype. You’re obviously not going to be sending two messages at the same second.

    It is too much of a coincidence that everything goes back to YOU. The ‘scammer’ didn’t choose to use another other middleman, but choosing YOU. Nobody sent me a message offering to buy my account but YOU. I was contacted through both Skype and PlayerUp by YOU.

    You keep bringing up that because the Skype’s username was not ‘Shui Shan’, it wasn’t you. Does everybody’s username have to be their name? No. My Skype user is ‘mistahrhino’ and that has nothing to do with my name or any other accounts I have.

    I am obviously not going to have a piece of evidence that specifically says “Shui Shan scammed you.” That is why I am disputing your fraudulent activity in the first place.

    Coincidence or not, there are others who have also said that YOU have scammed them before.

    I have said all that is needed to be said. I am not taking my anger out on you, I am trying to explain how all of the evidence points to you scamming me.

    @ratrear top priority right now is can you contact Roblox and recover the account? Are you the original owner? If so, PM me I can give you anymore steps to try to get that resolved for you. I think that should be your highest priority here while this dispute is pending.

    You indeed are. Not only are you accusing me of scamming your account when you don't have any proof that the impersonator is me, but you're also accusing me of "scamming others" before.

    Just face the truth; it's your first time using PlayerUp, and you got scammed because you fell for the impersonator. It's your fault that you didn't check with me on PlayerUp. It's your fault that you simply assumed we were the same person just because we were only around the same time. If you ever thought of asking anything like 'Are you that person being my Middleman?", I would, without hesitation, tell you that I have no idea what you are talking about.

I knew it was fishy, but when he referred me to the middleman and I saw that she was verified on the website, i felt comfortable with the transaction.

    The guy who approached you on Skype telling you that you Middleman Services were 'down', it's entirely your fault for believing in him. You saw that the user he was referring to (me) had a 'Verified' badge, and so 'felt comfortable with the transaction' - this was completely your choice for choosing NOT to use the official PlayerUp's Middleman service, simply because you assumed that a 'Verified' user would guarantee your transaction. Therefore, you are entirely responsible for your actions.

    Because of PlayerUp's 'trustworthy' middlemen, I have had one of my most valued possessions stolen from me... '


    It isn't the PlayerUp's Middleman's fault that your 'valued possessions' have been stolen. A PlayerUp Middleman is an Admin on PlayerUp, not a 'Verified' user on PlayerUp. Hence, your 'valued possessions' being stolen has nothing to do with the PlayerUp's Middleman Service.

    You're just manipulated by the first guy who approached you, because, like you said, this was your 'first time' on PlayerUp.

    I dont think its fair to blame PlayerUP just because the supposedly "middleman" who assisted your transaction via offsite was "verified" & "silver" as it just means that the user did their part whether as a seller or a buyer on a transaction via PlayerUp's Middleman Service, that doesn't mean that PlayerUp is gonna vouch for anyone who used their service and is allowing them to provide a middleman service of their own.

    Whether it is @Shui Shan or not who you have dealt with offsite, PlayerUp has no involvement with it whatsoever, however all they could do if @Shui Shan is proven guilty is they could release his/her personal information to the public and let the public especially the victims do whatever they want to do with it.

    There is no way to delete someone else's inbox, even if the other party left/deleted your conversation with them the conversation will remain inside your inbox but you cannot reply to it anymore.

    Go on the website Skype Resolver 2018 and type in the scammers' Skype ID live:johnson02isfresh and live:isiahisbeast4321 - you can get their IP address ~

    Now go on the site: iptolocation.net to check where their location is:

    IP 199.32.120.153 is managed by and located in United States

    IP 30.30.39.101 is managed by and located in United States

    You can see that the Latitude and Longitude are identical. That means despite these are different IP addresses, both of them come from the exact same place. Therefore, the two people you were talking to on Skype, are the same person.

    If you look at mine (you can check my IP address by clicking on the IP button), I'm in a whole different place.
    IP 86.20.42.239 is managed by AS5089 Virgin Media Limited and located in Brighton United Kingdom
