    How can you protect yourself from these type of scams in the future?

    What can you do next to resolve this issue?
    Since this is an offsite transaction, you need to immediately open a dispute hopefully before the seller moves those funds. Unfortunately, in this case, you cannot reclaim your funds as the gift cards would have been redeemed.
