What a VPN is: A virtual private network (VPN) is a secure way of connecting to a private Local Area Network at a remote location, using the internet or any unsecure public network to transport the network data packets privately, using encryption. The VPN uses authentication to deny access to unauthorized users, and encryption to prevent unauthorized users from reading the private network packets. The VPN can be used to send any kind of network traffic securely, including voice, video or data. To start: you need the host computer, a test computer, and a network already set up. Go onto the host computer (in this case windows XP) and make sure it is connected to the network. Then on the test computer (which can be any windows OS) hook up a Ethernet cord to the host (the test computer must not already be hooked up to the network). Once you did that, go back onto host then bridge BOTH the wireless and LAN connections. After that you will go into set up new connection and choose VPN, the internet address is whatever IP your router is. once you finished that leave both computers connected to each other which act as the servers for the VPN.
